Inspired by pop-culture franchises such as Marvel's "Guardians Of The Galaxy" & "Treasure Planet", to conclude and apply my learning from my Master's Degree, I conducted a self-directed project. This allowed me to contextualize my understanding and explore from concept to final render a Cyborg Parrot that would act as a companion and secret weapon for the Aquatic Pirate Character from my other character design project.

I challenged myself by setting a short deadline of 2 weeks, balancing my time efficiently between my exit degree show, and setting up meetings to take onboard peer feedback and my tutor's input to emulate stakeholder goals and expectations. Throughout my iteration process, I continued to research the anatomy from both perspectives of biological accuracy with the aviary form, but using sci-fi motifs to make an improvised and technological finish to the design. I looked at IPs such as "Sea of Thieves" for their use of companions, considering how this companion would have been built from an almost "Frankenstein"-esque mindset. Using improvised scrap metals and materials that would be haphazardly combined and soldered together from different manufacturers to bring to life this cunning, loyal yet downtrodden exotic bird.

The texture, color, and shape language of the cogs and exposed wiring helped add character and personality as I continued to develop my initial sketches and determine the evolution and progressive nature of the materials that compiled the Parrot's identity and form. This helped ground a degree of genuine plausibility and credibility to the existence of this character.
