Within this collection of projects, you can find a series of different styles and disciplines I explored to apply and exercise my knowledge during my time at BCU.
The project below offered me an opportunity to model and animate a stylized character within Blender. I was able to utilize the software to model, rig, texture map, paint, and use shading nodes to bring to life my concept. I considered the camera focal range, front lighting, and backlighting to help generate the best scene to display my character.
I was inspired by Aku Aku from Naughty Dog's "Crash Bandicoot", as well as native Hawaiian culture. This guided my decisions when creating the expression of the mask and it's shape language.

To push myself further, I selected this project to advertise Captain Morgan's Tiki Rum. Using my knowledge from the previous project above to contextualize my learning through refinement and setting new challenges, I modeled and sculpted the bottle from scratch. I texture-mapped the label and compiled together the scene with the experience I obtained.
I diligently researched previous Captain Morgan advertisements and looked at motifs associated with Polynesian culture to help create a cohesive and coherent environment for the bottle to exist within. I was able to provide a variety of options by experimenting with different compositions and colors to offer the strongest solution.

As a fan of the Fantasy genre, I developed a project that permitted me to enrich my experience of creating environments that had a contrast of light and shadow. I created the 3D cave environment in Blender and experimented with lighting and particle physics to create the most optimal ambiance based on factors such as the humidity of the cave, its potential geographical location, time of day, and weather conditions. To add personality to the composition, I introduced a little frog and a dragonfly to suggest the type of biology that would exist in this universe and ground it in a sense of realism.
