I developed this mirror prop as part of my exploration for an undisclosed Celtic Manor project. This asset would act as the centerpiece of the Grand Master room. This cohesively ties together other materials and subject matter, from Lady Morrigan herself, to the crow, and her wolf form, which can be seen within the woven Celtic knots. I looked at ornate Victorian mirrors and the Tree of Life, which helped develop the complex shape language and hierarchy of the frame. I ensured the texture was weathered, just like the condition of the now vacant manor.
Using my knowledge of lighting and texture, in post, I used a reference of Hati and Skoll, the Sun and Moon wolves from Nordic Mythology. I painted over the original 3D render I had produced and used highlights and shadows to create depth, and retain visual consistency.
